Q. How do you activate 3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads?

1. Locate the metal disc inside the liquid pouch and bend with your fingertips until it clicks and crystals start to form.
2. If desired, knead with fingers in order to create gel-like texture.

Q. How do you reuse 3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads?

Using Stove (Recommended):

To prevent direct contact between the heat pad and the bottom of the pot it is recommended that a cloth be put at the bottom of the pot, or wrapped around the heat pad. If using an electric stove this is not necessary.
Place the heat pad(s) in a pot submerged or at least partly submerged in water. If pad is not completely submerged in water, it will melt into the pot until it is completely submerged.
Boil for the amount of time suggested on the back of the box. It is difficult to over-boil the heat pads, so if they are in the water for longer than the recommended time it will not adversely affect the pads performance.
Allow to fully cool before re-activation.

Using Microwave:

Read all steps before beginning.
Completely submerge heat pad in water within a microwave safe bowl or container.

Place in microwave and heat at high for the following times:

Remove bowl from microwave and use tongs to lift the heat pad from the water.
Look inside of heat pad. If pad is clear with no signs of crystals skip to step 6. If crystals are still visible repeat step 2 and microwave in 30 second intervals for the smaller pads and 1 minute intervals for the larger pads until no more crystals are visible.
Allow to fully cool before re-activation.
Keep track of the total amount of time necessary to melt the crystals and use that amount of time to reuse in the future.

Common Issue:

Issue: After cooling, heat pad reactivates and becomes hard.
Cause: This issue may occur when crystals remain because the heat pad has not been boiled for an adequate length of time.
Solution: Re-boil pad for a longer amount of time ensuring that all crystals have disappeared before allowing to cool.

Q. Are 3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads safe?

3SecondHeat heat pads are perfectly safe. They contain a food grade salt solution, a bendable metal disk, water, and are wrapped in a high quality PVC cover.

Q. How many times can they be used?

3SecondHeat instant reusable heat pads can be used hundreds of times! Make sure to follow the boiling instructions carefully to ensure maximum longevity.

Q. How long do 3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads stay warm?

3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads will stay warm for up to 3 hours depending size and the environment in which they are used. The warmer the environment is around the heat pad, the longer it will stay warm. Keep 3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads as insulated as possible during their use. They will stay warmer if insulated by a pocket, the 3SecondHeat Back Strap, or when wrapped or covered by any other insulating material.

Q. How do 3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads Work? Are they actually magic?

I would like to say that our 3SecondHeat pads are magic, but there is some science involved. Although being counter intuitive, the process that allows the heat pad to heat up so quickly is called super-cooling and the liquid solution in the heat pad freezes at a temperature of 54-47 degrees Celsius. The solution is happy to exist as a liquid at a lower temperature and is very stable. However flexing the metal disk has the ability to force a few molecules into the super cooled solid state and a cascade effect turns the rest of the molecules into that state as well. Just like water when this liquid freezes it turns into a slushy type consistency but this slush is hot!

Q. How should 3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads be stored?

3SecondHeat Instant Reusable Heat Pads should be stored in their liquid state. If stored for a long time in its sold form, small particles that look like snowflakes may remain after boiling. If this occurs, re-boil for a longer amount of time until these snowflake particles disappear.
